MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – An initiative by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is looking to bring a cluster of new jobs to Macon County.
The Community Development Block Grant, totaling $430,000, will allow Shinsung NVH USA, an automobile parts supplier for Hyundai, Kia and other manufacturers, to build a warehouse in the town of Shorter.
Shinsung is a South Korean Company that produces insulation and other parts for automobile frames to help reduce noise and vibration from vehicles while in motion.
The Governor’s Office announced Tuesday that the deal should create 35 new jobs.
“Alabama continues to accelerate in the automobile manufacturing business, and this recent announcement by Shinsung is additional proof that manufacturers are attracted by our economic climate and ready workforce,” Gov. Ivey said. “I congratulate both the town of Shorter and Macon County for working hard to bring business into our state, resulting in new job opportunities for residents.”
ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell said the department is eager to see the company expand and thrive in Macon County.
“Macon County and the town of Shorter have been making strides to provide job opportunities for people within the county and surrounding areas,” Boswell said. “ADECA joins Gov. Ivey in welcoming Shinsung, and we look forward to seeing the company grow and prosper in Macon County.”
